[ Honestly, that wouldn't surprise him. He grins up at wolfwood, his head tilted ever so slightly so that his expression just looks a little lopsided. There's a glint in his eyes as he scoots down on the bench, closer to where Wolfwood stands.
Still seated, he props his chin up on one hand, peering up at Wolfwood from over the rim of his sunglasses. ]
( it's so annoying how cute vash looks when he looks up at him like that, like he knows the secrets to everything, like he's certain.
wolfwood doesn't know where this is going to go, what this is, only that he very much enjoys kissing him and he'd like to keep going, thank you very much.
at that question, however, he just grunts and pushes him back down the bench so he can sit himself down beside him. )
Not really. All I know is that I like doing this. I don't know where it's going to go.
( he's never... actually done any of this before. )
[ And back down he scoots, though not far, their legs still pressing together. ]
Does what bother me?
[ He considers for a moment, reaching out with his flesh and bone hand to settle on Wolfwood's knee. He drums his fingers idly, gaze flickering off towards one of the windows of the inn. ]
A long time ago someone once told me we're all on a journey but the destination isn't set in stone. So even if I don't know where anything is going, it's the trip that's the important part, everything can change between here and the end of the line.
( he can feel the warmth of his leg, pressed up against his — it's ridiculously distracting, but that's nothing compared to the more vivid warmth of his entirely flesh and blood hand on his thigh.
his hand comes to rest on his, taking in the weight of those words. there is something that relieves him, an understanding that puts him more at ease even if the road ahead is opaque.
he squeezes his hand, looking down at their joined hands. )
Good enough. ( and before he can overthink himself into paralysis, he's leaning forward to kiss him again. )
[ The moment their lips touch Vash breaths in a gasp that's out of involuntary surprise than anything else. He'd expected to be the one to initiate, it HAD been a challenge issued to him, after all. But the moment Wolfwood's lips touch his own he catches up.
His free hand - the prosthetic - lifts up to touch the scratchy unshaven side of Wolfwood's face, cradling it as their lips press together. Vash parts his lips, tongue licking over the seam of Wolfwood's mouth, the corners of his lips turning upward into a mischievous little grin. ]
( good, he's at least surprised him; bastard's been surprising wolfwood way too much recently, and it's good to have at least one or two on him. but then that smugness dissipates quickly when he feels the reciprocating press of his lips on his.
he relaxes without thinking, leaning into the strange but welcome sensation of that prosthetic hand on his face. parting his own lips, his own tongue flickers against his, and he can't help but draw him in. and yet... )
[ The words are whispered into Wolfwood's mouth before he pulls back, his head lolling to one side as he grins, the corners of his eyes crinkling with the expression. ]
Between that and the pizza, I think I'm having a pretty good day.
( there's everything charming about the way vash looks at him, the curve of his lips, the corner of his eyes, and for a moment, wolfwood finds himself entranced.
well then, guess who is also having a very good day?
he coughs, turning away, embarrassed by the onslaught of his own emotions - this is really annoying, you know? how does vash manage to be a mini sun, lighting up the crevices of his own mood? )
What, like no one's made you blow out a candle on your own pizza before? Eat up, I know you haven't had anything to eat this morning, fussin' about with other people and all.
Well, if I'm honest... the last time I really celebrated was when Rem made us a cake.
[ He reaches out to take another slice though, easily shoveling a good third of it into his mouth before he starts to chew. Again, the taste of it is amazing and he makes no attempt to hide how good it is. He groans, flopping back against wolfwood almost dramatically.
If every day could be like this he'd be happy. Even with the innkeepers giggling at them from behind the counter. ]
( what the fuck, this dude. but you know what? seeing vash happy sort of makes wolfwood happy, and he's given up trying to dissect that feeling - it goes right into the pile of that growing desire to kiss him more and more often, even if he has pizza grease on his lips. )
That good, huh?
( he keeps steady, using his other hand to reach out for the pizza so he can eat it too. )
[ Vash nods, since his mouth is still full of pizza, but he does move the pizza closer to Wolfwood so he can take a slice with a little less effort. Here u go, Wolfwood. He does not stop leaning on him though. He's comfortable.
A moment later he's swallowing and licking pizza sauce off of his fingers as he thinks. ]
Vanilla probably? It was a pretty simple cake, but it was the fact she made it for us that was important. Rem really did try her best to take care of us.
[ His mood shifts to something more somber, but it's light. It's less painful to talk about Rem when it's someone like Wolfwood. ]
( it's a shame she isn't around to make vanilla cake for him again; even dealing with cuteness aggression, it doesn't take a mind reader to realise just how vash misses her. he chews on the pizza thoughtfully, his arm around him. his holding, keeping him there. they don't talk about the affection, they just don't. )
I imagine she did.
( he says quietly. ) D'you think your brother misses that cake, too?

I don't know.

Nai's never really liked food. Or cared much about it.
